Each year, four international science institutions compile temperature data from thousands of stations around the world and make independent judgments about whether the year was warmer or cooler than average. “The official records vary slightly because of subtle differences in the way we analyze the data,” said Reto Ruedy, climate scientist at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. “But they also agree extraordinarily well.”
All four records show peaks and valleys in sync with each other. All show rapid warming in the past few decades. All show the last decade has been the warmest on record.
Hello January, 6th 2013!! Today is the Mexican holiday of the three wise men (aka three kings)…I wish I where celebrating today in Mx, City. As a kid I, and the custom is to ask for a 2nd round of gifts (to address any Santa Clause discrepancies). My letter once complete, for the “Reyes” was then attached to a balloon. This balloon was released and in the evening the familia gathered to eat a king’s bread “Rosca de Reyes.” The beverages of choice are still my mother’s mother, Abuelita’s hot Mexican chocolate, or “café de olla” sweet & cinnamon-ee coffee. The modern “Rosca de Reyes” is sliced in half and filled with cream, syrups, and fruit. The traditional is a ring topped with caramelized fruit containing little plastic objects, resembling a kid figure about 3cm tall. This doll inside the bread is intended as a punishment to those who bite into their bread and find it. Miraculously if you escape chocking on the hidden plastic doll, you are made fun of by your family, and are suppose to make the tamales on virgin Mary’s day a few months later. So yes, I miss everything about being with my family in Mexico and of course the culture!
